Ensuring a safe and respectful environment

School Safety

At Wonderful, ensuring campus safety among our students, faculty, and parents is our top priority. With state-of-the-art technology that extends beyond the classroom our campuses are equipped with the tools that provide the safest educational in-person experience for students. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our sites have also implemented safety measures to protect the health and safety of the larger campus community.

TIPS FOR CONVERSATION TO ENSURE A SAFE AND RESPECTFUL ENVIRONMENT:

Define What is Considered a Threat

Make it clear that any statement—whether made on social media, in a text message, verbally, or in any form of communication—can be considered a threat if it implies harm to another person(s). Emphasize that even comments made as jokes or in frustration can have serious and legal consequences.

Depending on the threat, this may include arrest or jail time for the student involved.

Be Clear and Honest

Explain why threats are taken seriously and why certain behaviors are unacceptable. Make sure your child understands that words and actions, even if not meant seriously, can lead to significant repercussions.

Discuss Consequences

Talk with your child about the possible outcomes of making threats, including school disciplinary actions and potential legal consequences. Reinforce that these policies are in place to keep everyone safe.

Promote Empathy

Encourage your child to consider how their words impact others. Discuss the impact of kindness and respect in all forms of communication.

Foster Open Dialogue

Let your child know that they can come to you with any questions or concerns. Create a safe space for them to discuss their thoughts openly.

Model Positive Behavior

Demonstrate healthy ways to manage frustration or anger, offering examples constructive ways to resolve conflicts.

Follow Up Regularly

Make it a point to check in with your child about how they are feeling and reinforce the importance of making safe, positive choices online and in person.
